DID YOU KNOW ?

THAT OF THE 17,OOO CHEMICALS THAT APPEAR IN COMMON HOUSEHOLD PRODUCTS,

ONLY 30% HAVE BEEN ADEQUATELY TESTED FOR THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS ON OUR HEALTH .

THE FEDERAL ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY ( E.P.A. ) HAS FOUND THAT

AIRBORNE CHEMICAL LEVELS IN HOMES WERE AS MUCH AS

SEVENTY ( 70 ) TIMES HIGHER INSIDE THAN OUTSIDE .

THE FEDERAL FOOD & DRUG ADMINISTRATION ( F.D.A. ) CANNOT REQUIRE COMPANIES TO DO

SAFETY TESTING ON THEIR PERSONAL CARE PRODUCTS BEFORE THEY ARE SOLD TO THE PUBLIC .

MEDICAL DOCTORS AND SCIENTISTS HAVE STUDIED, ANALYZED, EVALUATED, AND CONCLUDED

THAT THERE IS A DEFINITIVE CONNECTION BETWEEN OUR HEALTH AND

THE USE OF EVERYDAY COMMON HOUSEHOLD CLEANING CHEMICALS .

HOUSEHOLD CHEMICALS POSE A

SIGNIFICANT THREAT TO THE

HEALTH AND SAFETY OF FAMILIES,

PARTICULARLY TO CHILDREN .

CONSIDER THESE FACTS :

Within 26 seconds after exposure to chemicals such as cleaning products , traces of these chemicals can be found

in every organ in the body.

About one percent of the nation’s trash is made up of household hazardous waste. That small percentage equals

3.36 million tons, an average of 60-100 pounds per household at any given time.

More than 1.4 million Americans exposed to household chemicals were referred to poison control centers in 2001.

824,000 of these exposure victims were children under the age of 6.

Household chemicals cause frequent fires in dumpsters and trash collection trucks, and injuries to trash workers.

A New York sanitation worker was killed in 1998 when a hazardous liquid in household trash sprayed his face and clothes.

( SOURCE : http://www.checnet.org/healthehouse/education/articles-detail.asp?Main_ID=649 )

Recent medical and scientific studies suggest that chronic exposure to low levels of synthetic chemicals and "toxins" found in indoor air pollution may be linked to numerous health concerns, including but not limited to: allergies, asthma, autoimmune diseases, cancer, Alzheimer's, ADD ( Attention Deficit Disorder ) ; and Multiple Chemical Sensitivities.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Average American Uses about 25 Gallons

of "TOXIC" , "HAZARDOUS" Chemical Products

per year in their Home...

A Major Portion Of These Can Be Found

In Household Cleaning Products.

Did you know that the cleaning products found in many households and offices contain more than 50 potentially harmful, even lethal chemicals ?

Did you know that many people, especially children and the elderly, are allergic to many of the toxic substances used in standard cleaning products ?

Did you know that the production and labeling of household and industrial cleaning products is largely unregulated ?

Did you know that a product that kills up to 50% of lab animals can still be labeled "non-toxic" ?

Imagine your peace of mind if you never had to be concerned again about your family suffering from exposure to harmful cleaning chemicals ... Vero Beach Cleaners can clean your home using only natural non-chemical products.

We are concerned not only for your family health but ours as well.

Alternative Cleaning Supplies

Chemical cleaners do much to undermine our health and environment.

Window Cleaner

Ingredients: vinegar, newspaper, spray bottle

In a spray bottle, mix 2 tablespoons of vinegar and one liter of water. Spray on your windows and use the newspaper to clean.

Bathroom/Kitchen Cleaner

Ingredients: borax powder, baking soda

Mix 1/4 cup of borax powder with 1/4 cup baking soda. Add just enough water to make a paste. Use this for cleaning kitchen and bathroom surfaces. Alternatively, add less water for scouring.

Floor Cleaner

Ingredients: white vinegar, baking soda, borax powder

Mix together baking soda and a bit or borax powder and add to your mop water. The borax will keep away many insects, except ants. The white vinegar can be used for rinsing to add a natural shine and keep away ants.

Disinfectant

Ingredients: citricidal or tea tree oil, water

Add 20 drops of citricidal or up to 50 drops of tea tree oil to a bucket of water. Stir well. Use this for wiping floors, counters, sinks, bathroom tiles, shower stalls, and toilet seats. If you would like to discourage mold from growing in your showers stalls, add 5 drop of citricidal to a spray bottle filled with water and spray on your tiles.

Note: Citricidal and tea tree oil can be found at your local health food store. Borax powder can be found in some drug stores, grocery stores, or craft stores. Citricidal, tea tree oil, and borax powder should not be ingested by adults, children or pets.

Rosemary-Lavender Carpet Shampoo

This recipe makes enough for a 10' x 13' room. If you can't find soap flakes, you can use 1/4 cup borax instead, but test the outcome of this substitution on a small area first.

2 cups baking soda

1/2 cups soap flakes

20 drops lavender essential oil

8 drops rosemary essential oil

1/2 cup vinegar

2 cups warm water

1. Sweep carpet to be cleaned with a broom or carpet sweeper to loosen dirt, then vacuum the entire area.

2. Combine the baking soda and soap flakes in a plastic bowl. Add the essential oils and mix well, breaking up any clumps with a fork. Sprinkle the mixture on the carpet.

3. Add the vinegar to the warm water in a bucket or pail. Dip a clean sponge mop into the bucket and squeeze out as much excess liquid as you can. Gently go over carpet with the sponge mop, working in sections. Wait at least an hour and then vacuum again.
